The Soireé Sipper
"The screen door slowly creaks open and then sharply claps the clapboards behind me as I step off the cottage porch. I breathe in deep to capture it all... the sound of the screen door, the sight of the egrets standing tall in the marsh on the horizon, the scent of the salt air, pluff mud and lush live oak dripping with Spanish moss. Distinctly Lowcountry. I am back at the bluff as if it were yesterday. Our one-year anniversary. Tonight I will wear my beloved flowing frock that I wore at my wedding reception aboard the Lady Grace and carry my Southern Pearl purse to honor the memorable occasion... I giggle with delight in my mind.
But tomorrow, I will delight him with something new... a little black shift, classic and demure and my new Charleston Carry Soirée stitched in luxurious dupioni silk as rich and romantic as the wrought iron gates of Charleston.
